  • Combine the oats with 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon cassia powder, 1/4 teaspoon ginger powder,1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder, 1/4 teaspoon cloves, and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg powder. Mix thoroughly to blend.

  • Allow the spices to seep into the oats by cooking them for another two to three minutes.

  • Stir in the honey or maple syrup, if used, for sweetness. Take the saucepan off the burner as soon as the oats have the consistency you want.

  • Sprinkle some nuts and fruits over the oatmeal.
